Anniversay Judo Seminar with Sensei Matl |
July 28, 2018 Today was a very special day for us at Team Haas Judo Jiu-Jitsu. Sensei Zdenek Matl is here giving his first Judo Seminar for me at the new location. This weekend has significant meaning. This is the month I started training Judo and Jiu-Jitsu with Sensei Matl 25 years ago. This is also our 1 year anniversary holding classes at our very own dedicated location. It's surprising to wrap your mind around training and learning from 1 source for 25 years. Back in 1993, in the Karate school in Austin where I had met Sensei, I had no idea of the journey I was actually embarking on. Since staring Team Haas Judo Jiu-Jitsu about 5 years ago, my students haven't had the opportunity to meet or training with Sensei Matl because of the limitation of our previous location. Now that we have been at this location holding classes for exactly 1 year (this weekend is our anniversary here), I am so excited to be able to arrange for Sensei to have a Judo seminar. Not really because what he is going to teach is so different, but because it is an opportunity for my students and people in the Martial Arts community that I have met in the recent years to get to meet Sensei Matl. Experience him. Watch him move and work. Feel his movement and technique. I'm nowhere near his level, but it's awesome for everyone to see exactly where I come from and the lineage they are learning from. I was able to get a local photographer, Mitchell Photography and Video, to be here to take some awesome pics. Mitch is a BJJ practitioner who I had the privilege of meeting while visiting another school. I wanted him here because there really isn't any photography of me and Sensei working, teaching, or anything like that. We filled the Dojo. Sensei had a great time doing what he loves. I had a great time because he was there and so many people were able to make it out. It was an awesome day. -- Chad Haas Judo Godan, Jiu-Jitsu Rokudan Head Instructor - Team Haas Judo Jiu-Jitsu |
