Description:

Reading the Single-Leg attempt (Kuchiki-Taioshi), I setup grip, then countered with an Ashi-Guruma.

In our school, we invite leg grabbing despite what the sport Judo community is doing because this IS a part of Judo and it's also EXACTLY what non-Judokas will do (Wrestling, BJJ, ect.).

It is our duty as Martial Artists to work and learn how to deal with, manipulate, and counter such movements and NOT just make rules to disallow them because people are thrown with them. If it's something dangerous, yes, disallow it. If not, deal with it and grow.

In my school, I teach active counters (Gi and no-Gi) to Single-Leg (Kuchiki-Taioshi) and Double-Leg (Morote-Gari) take-downs. This is what Judo is supposed to be.
